Brief Description

●The international indicator set of the NWI in R.O.C.(Taiwan) ranks 19th.

For purposes of international comparison and to represent domestic characteristics, the NWI in R.O.C.(Taiwan) embraces two sets of indicators-international indicators and domestic indicators.

The international indicators for compiling composite index are based completely on the BLI's 24 indicators. DGBAS compiles the composite index with the calculation method of BLI and averages with equal weights. The BLI score of our nation in 2013 is 6.64. Our nation ranks 19th among the OECD member and partnership countries.

The domestic indicators provide more specific information about people's lives and are presented separately. There is no composite index will be added up.

●Our nation performs better in material living conditions than quality of life.

Concerning with the topics, the rankings in the topics of "Income and Wealth", "Housing conditions" and "Jobs and Earnings" related to material living conditions are all into the top 10 among the OECD member and partnership countries(4th, 9th and 10th, respectively). In the conceptual pillar of quality of life, our nation only performs better in the topic of "Personal security"(3rd). It's obviously that the performance in material living conditions is much better than the quality of life in our nation. In the topic of "Environmental quality" still have much need to improve.
