Total employment in January 2019 was 11,485,000, which increased by 4,000(+0.04%) from the previous month; moreover, it also increased by 76,000(+0.66%) from that of the previous year.
The unemployment rate declined by 0.02 percentage points to 3.64 percent in January 2019; the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, by contrast, rose by 0.02 percentage points to 3.72 percent. The number of unemployed persons was 434,000 in January 2019, which decreased by 2,000(-0.43%) but increased by 4,000(+0.95%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.
